Band of Liberty Welcomes Christopher Weait

During February 14–15, the United States Air Force Band of Liberty welcomed Christopher Weait, Professor of Bassoon from Ohio State University. Professor Weait came to Hanscom Air Force Base to conduct clinics for the Band of Liberty’s Colonial Brass and New England Winds chamber ensembles and offer instruction to the Band's bassoonists.

Christopher Weait joined the Ohio State University faculty in 1984. Prior to his OSU appointment, he served 17 years as principal bassoonist in the Toronto Symphony. He has been a member of the Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia, United States Military Academy Band, and Columbus Symphony Orchestra. At OSU he teaches undergraduate and graduate bassoon majors, graduate courses in literature and pedagogy and coaches chamber music and was recipient of the School of Music Distinguished Teaching Award in 1999. Weait holds a B. S. in Music Education from the State University College in Potsdam, New York and an M. A. from Columbia University.
