Band Superintendent
A native of Friendship, Wisconsin, Senior Master Sergeant Robert Greene graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1978 and continued his education at Boise State University and later at Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin. During the summer of 1982, Sergeant Greene was in the All-American College Band at Walt Disney World, Florida. Sergeant Greene graduated cum laude from Lawrence Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1983. He continued his studies at the University of Northern Colorado, where he performed in the nationally acclaimed Jazz Lab Band I and earned his Master of Music degree in Bass Trombone Performance in 1985.
From 1985-1986, Sergeant Greene was the Instructor of Low Brass and Jazz Studies at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He has performed with the Boise Philharmonic, the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra and the New England Philharmonic.
In July 1987, Sergeant Greene entered the United States Air Force and was assigned to the 505th Air Force Band of the Midwest, Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois. His other tours of duty include the Air Force Band of the Mid-America, Scott AFB, Illinois and the United States Air Forces in Europe Band, Sembach Air Base, Germany. In January 2003, Sergeant Greene received his current assignment to the United States Air Force Band of Liberty, Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts.
His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star. He was selected as the Air Force Materiel Command‘s Outstanding Band Senior Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) of the Year in 2003, and the United States Air Force Band of Liberty's SNCO of the Quarter in April-June 2003 and October-December 2004. He was the John L. Levitow award recipient at Airman Preparatory School, Chanute AFB, Illinois, and attended the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Gunter AFB, Alabama.
