For the second year in a row, the United States Air Force Band of Liberty and the National Park Service presented A Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day at the Minute Man Visitor Center in Lexington, Massachusetts.

This year the event commemorated the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II and featured the Band of Liberty’s Ambassadors big band and the Liberty Wind Orchestra. The highlight of the afternoon was an appearance by the energetic USO Liberty Belles show troupe from Washington, DC, with patriotic costumes and repertoire reminiscent of the 1940s Andrews Sisters.

The three ladies—Jennifer Johns, Linda Sue Moshier, and Victoria Reed—have entertained at the World War II Memorial Dedication activities at the National Mall, the rededication of the Statue of Liberty, the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg, the opening of the Price of Freedom—Americans at War exhibit at the American History Museum of the Smithsonian Institution, GSA Outreach Europe in Heidelberg, Germany, and at the Pentagon. They also frequently visit veteran’s hospitals throughout the country.

The event drew a large, appreciative crowd unfazed by the intermittent rain. The concert was the first of many outdoor events on the Band’s summer calendar.
