Liberty Big Band Dazzles In Derry, New Hampshire

The night was cold but the jazz was hot, as the United States Air Force Liberty Big Band swung into Pinkerton Academy on February 7 in Derry, New Hampshire.

The performance turned out to be a reunion of sorts, with several former Air Force Band alumni “sitting in” for the evening. Prior Air Force band members Jeff Hoyer (trombone), MSgt Laura Noel (vocals) and Bobby Gallegos and Mike O’Connor (trumpets) offered their immense talents to help create a captivating, high-energy show.

The Liberty Big Band was preceded on the evening’s program by three exciting selections from the Pinkerton Academy Jazz Band, directed by Mike Adams. The high school students received some extra inspiration earlier that afternoon after participating in jazz clinic sessions conducted by Liberty Big Band members.
