Liberty Big Band vocalists and Darlene Love

Da Doo Ron Ron in Boston:
On August 16, the United States Air Force Liberty Big Band and guest artist Darlene Love wowed the thousands in attendance at Boston City Hall Plaza.

Love, currently starring as Motormouth Maybelle in Broadway's Hairspray, first achieved musical fame back in the 1960s with The Blossoms where she recorded some of the biggest hits of that decade, including Phil Spector’s Da Doo Ron Ron. In the late 1980s and 1990s, Darlene also began an acting career, playing Danny Glover's wife in the four Lethal Weapon movies, and appeared on Broadway in Grease.

The Liberty Big Band's appearance marked the final event of the summer for the 33rd Annual Dorothy Curran Wednesday Evenings on the Plaza concert series, presented by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department.
