Honoring Those Who Went ‘Above and Beyond’

The Band of Liberty’s Ceremonial Band performed at the State House in Boston on September 27 during the opening ceremony of the 2006 Medal of Honor Society Convention.

The city hosted 68 of the 111 living recipients for the annual event, the largest gathering of Medal of Honor recipients. In the 144 years since the first medals were presented, 3,460 have been awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces for valor above and beyond the call of duty.
