On November 17, the Afterburner pop music group had the rare opportunity to perform in New York City for the Air Force’s highest ranking uniformed officer and civilian.
At a USO event held at HBO’s New York headquarters, Afterburner performed for General T. Michael Moseley, the Air Force’s Chief of Staff, and Michael W. Wynne, Secretary of the Air Force. The once-in-a-career tasking occurred on very short notice—in less than one week.
Afterburner met with General Moseley and Secretary Wynne after the show, when the two Air Force leaders showed their appreciation for the group’s outstanding efforts by presenting each member with coveted challenge coins.
The performance was one of many for Afterburner in the New York City region during November. The group’s itinerary for the month also included an appearance at the New York City Marathon on November 5 to provide musical support near the finish line for over 37,000 runners. |
